As a special project celebrating the 35th anniversary of Tokyo-based designers brand “beauty:beast,” which has remained at the forefront since the 1990s and continues to command a passionate following, messa has been selected as a partner to launch this capsule collection.

The commemorative first release features works by U-jin(Yujin), a legendary manga artist who left an indelible mark on 1990s manga culture. The delicate linework and coexisting eroticism of U-jin(Yujin)’s world are reinterpreted by designer Takao Yamashita into graphics inspired by 1970s Blue Note album covers. After a quarter century, the iconic “Killer Icon” series is reborn and passed on to today’s media tribe—modern-day creators and expressionists.

At the hem, a statement defining the ultimate form of contemporary eroticism is placed. The print employs messa’s signature multi-color (8-screen) pigment printing technique, developing a unique, vintage-like texture the more it is worn.
